On Your Side Surprise helps woman get $1,446 deposit refund

SURPRISE, AZ (AZ Family) — A surprised woman moved out of her apartment complex and was expecting her full deposit to be refunded, but four months later she’s still waiting.

So she called On YOUR Side for help.

Lucinda Florez moved in with relatives about four months ago and found herself still unpacking some of her belongings.

Before moving, Florez lived at a place called The Pointe on South Mountain.

He says he enjoys the complex, but living on the second floor is now too much for his health.

“I had surgery on my right lung. And my pulmonologist said, a second story is probably not the best thing for you,” Florez told On Your Side.

Florez gave notice to move out and then deep cleaned her apartment.

He even videotaped the entire apartment to document how clean he left it.

Lucinda was expecting her $1,446 deposit to be refunded.

In fact, the apartment complex gave him two refund statements: one for about $200 and the other for $1,200.

But after waiting nearly four months and constantly calling The Pointe on South Mountain, he never got his money.

So he contacted On Your Side.

“I’m sure you’re wondering, ‘Where’s my money?’ You feel like. On Your Side’s Gary Harper asked Florez.

“Absolutely. And I was like, you know what, how long do I have to wait?” He replied.

On Your Side got involved and contacted The Pointe at South Mountain.

It was revealed that around the time Florez moved out, the complex changed property management companies and his repayment failed.

But after On Your Side’s involvement, Florez received two checks for just over $1,446, his entire deposit.

Florez says it’s only because of On Your Side.

“I think you’re great. I think you’re doing a really good job. As for getting results, I owe it all to you because I haven’t actually gotten anywhere,” he said.
