Remains of missing BC woman found in Fraser River: IHIT

The remains of a woman who went missing eight months ago in Surrey, B.C., were found in the Fraser River this summer, according to authorities.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation provided an update on the incident on Wednesday, urging the public to stay informed.

Navdeep Kaur, 28, was reported missing on February 23, 2024. Investigators with Surrey RCMP determined that Kaur’s disappearance “may be the result of crime,” according to a statement from IHIT.

On July 23, exactly five months after Kaur was reported missing, Richmond RCMP found human remains near where Williams Road meets the Fraser River. These remains were identified as Kaur’s.

“IHIT continued to pursue a number of investigative avenues to determine the circumstances surrounding Ms. Kaur’s death,” officials said.

“This is a tragic incident and investigators continue to work on this very active investigation. We are issuing an update in the hope that someone who knows something about Ms. Kaur’s disappearance and murder may come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448.
