A 78-year-old man died in hospital months after being hit by a car while crossing the road in Maidstone, Kent Police said.

In the accident that occurred around 10:40 on August 15, a woman who was with the man was also injured, but the woman was later discharged from the hospital.

However, the old man died in hospital on October 26.

Police said the driver of the black Ford Focus involved in the crash stopped at the scene and was assisting police with inquiries.

Det Con Jim Galbraith said: “The victim was walking outside Boots towards the King Street car park when the collision occurred.”

He asked any eyewitnesses or those who have camera footage of the incident to contact the police.
