Republican Mark Amodei has been declared the winner of his bid for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives against nonpartisan Greg Kidd in the Nevada Congressional District 2 race, which covers the upper half of the state.

Amodei received 57% of the votes to Kidd’s 35%.

Independent American candidate Lynn Chapman and Libertarian candidate Javi Tachiquin received 4 percent and 3 percent of the vote, respectively.

• What is at stake: Kidd’s upset could allow Democrats to take a majority of seats in the House of Representatives. Republicans currently have a narrow advantage. Election forecasters see Kidd as unlikely to win.

The news coming out of this race might be how close Kidd can come to achieving that. Outperforming Democrats in recent years could inspire Kidd to try again in 2026, perhaps as a Democrat or even a Republican.
