Bomb threats impact polls in Georgia (6:30 p.m. ET)

Numerous bomb threats emerged Voting in the Atlanta area was suspended today. Hours will be extended as some polling places are closed until the ballot boxes are checked due to threats.

There is no indication that any of the threats are legitimate.

Philadelphia denies Trump cheating claims (6:10 p.m. ET)

Donald Trump claimed on his Truth Social platform that law enforcement was responding to “massive fraud” in Philadelphia. Police and city officials deny this claim; Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner responded with a statement asking for evidence: “If Donald J. Trump has facts to back up his wild claims, we want them now. Right now. We’re not holding our breath.”

Republican City Commissioner Seth Bluestein also said there was “no truth” to Trump’s claim.

First polls close (6 p.m. ET)

Polls are closed in most Indiana and Kentucky counties in the Eastern Time Zone. Central Time counties will have one more hour.

30,000 votes to be recounted in Milwaukee (5:45 p.m. ET)

Nearly 30,000 ballots in Milwaukee will need to be explainedThe city said this Tuesday afternoon due to a scheduling issue.

City spokesman Jeff Fleming said the schedulers were sealed, but the doors on those machines were not properly closed. The issue involved early absentee and in-person voting and affected all 13 tabulators.

Results for 2 North Carolina counties will be briefly delayed (5 p.m. ET)

Two battleground counties in North Carolina will delay the release of results by 30 minutes after the State Board of Elections agreed to extend the close of voting in two counties Tuesday morning due to technical issues. The board voted to delay closing time at one site in Burke County and another in Wilson County to 8 p.m.

Trump won’t say how he voted on Florida abortion issue (3:45 p.m. ET)

Trump declined to answer when first asked, according to the Associated Press. When asked a second time, Trump told the reporter, “you need to stop talking about it.”

Northville, Michigan, gas leak at polling place (3:15 p.m. ET)

Authorities in Northville, Michigan, closed a polling place around noon and sent voters to another precinct in suburban Detroit because of a natural gas leak. Consumers Energy was investigating the leak.

Voting hours have been extended in Cambria County, Penn.

A Pennsylvania state judge on Tuesday ordered polls to remain open for two more hours in Cambria County, which requested an extension after a software glitch affected ballot scanning machines.

County officials say the issue has caused voter confusion, leading to some people leaving without voting and long lines at some locations. However, like state officials, they emphasized that no one would be turned away from the ballot box and all votes would be counted.

Ballot printing error in Alabama

Emergency ballots were printed in one Alabama county Tuesday morning after a printing error was discovered that caused a page containing proposed statewide and local constitutional amendments to be missing.

The Alabama Secretary of State confirmed that emergency ballots were printed.

The ACLU of Alabama is based in St. Louis, a spokesperson for the organization said. St. Clair said he asked the probate office to extend voting hours based on the number of hours it takes to receive new ballots.

Polls close at different times across the US, affecting when results come out. According to 270toWin, the important times for the states are:

• 19:30 ET: Ohio, North Carolina, West Virginia

Presidential race: Fight for swing states

The 2024 presidential race depends on 270 delegate votes, focusing on seven swing states that received 93 votes in total. With close votes in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, both candidates need wins in these key battlegrounds.

Senate showdown: Close races determine control

Control of the Senate hinges on close races in key states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Montana, where billions of dollars in campaign spending reflect high stakes. Republicans need two more seats for a majority; West Virginia leans GOP, while Democrats are defending seats in battleground states.

Unexpectedly competitive races in Texas and Nebraska give Democrats a chance to make up for potential losses elsewhere, while incumbents Sherrod Brown (Ohio) and Bob Casey (Pennsylvania) face heavily funded GOP rivals. The outcome will shape the Senate’s direction on key issues for the next term.

Home races: Key regions up for grabs

While all 435 House seats are on the ballot, a few tightly contested districts could decide control. Democrats aim to flip four seats to take back the House of Representatives, while Republicans aim to expand their majority. Notable races include California’s Central Valley, Arizona’s 1st district, and Maine’s 2nd district; here, incumbents face well-financed opponents in swing districts.

Notable contests include Democratic incumbent Jared Golden in Maine, which Trump won, and Rep. Matt Cartwright in Pennsylvania’s 8th district, a critical battleground state. As the results come in, these regions will be very important and could determine the balance of power in the Parliament.
