DENVER (AP) — Denver Nuggets power forward Aaron Gordon Two people familiar with the injury told The Associated Press that he is expected to be out for several weeks because of a strained right calf.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the extent of the injury was not disclosed. Gordon left Monday’s win over Toronto He did not return in the first quarter.

Gordon is averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds in 30 minutes this season.

Gordon, 29, signed a four-year, $133 million contract extension just before the start of the season. He was an integral piece when the team won its first NBA title in 2022-23.

Gordon was originally drafted fourth overall by Orlando in 2014. He was traded to the Nuggets in March 2021 and became a fan favorite for his play around the basket and his energizing dunks.

Before the season, Gordon changed his jersey numbers to No. 32 in memory of his brother Drew, who died in a car crash in Oregon last spring.
