MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC/WMBF) – Marlboro County deputies arrested two North Charleston men accused of attempting to leave contraband at the Pee Dee jail.

South Carolina Department of Corrections spokeswoman Chrysti Shain said Marcus Maurice Cooper, 34, and Tauraz Marquel Ancrum, 26, both of North Charleston, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to supply and distribute contraband to inmates.

He said deputies seized a large package of drugs and cell phones that were dropped by a drone at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville.

“After the drone was detected and the package crashed, officers stopped a suspicious car in the area and arrested two people,” he said.

Investigators say the package contained marijuana, a cellphone, tobacco, cigarette paper, cigars, a lighter, a digital scale, headphones, an iPad, a GPS monitor, batteries and other contraband.

Booking photos of the two men were not immediately available from Marlboro County.
