Update from Lafayette Police on the crash that closed all lanes of westbound I-10 at the Moss Street overpass:

At 12:47 PM, LPD Officers were dispatched to a major vehicle crash on I-10 WB at MM103B. When police teams arrived at the scene, five (5) school buses and St. Louis were involved in the collision. A truck pulling a band trailer from Bernard Parish was determined to be involved. Six students with minor to moderate injuries were transported to a local hospital. The accident occurred when one of the buses collided with the rear of the bus in front of it, creating a chain reaction with other buses.

Drivers should avoid this area until further notice. An update will be provided as more information becomes available and the road reopens.

Lafayette Police are advising motorists heading west on I-10 to get off at the Louisiana Boulevard exit to avoid the Moss Street overpass closure.

There’s a major traffic accident here and police had to close all lanes on the west side of the Interstate.
