The three-vehicle crash closed all northbound lanes of Highway 400 in Vaughan during rush hour Tuesday morning.

The collision happened north of Teston Road at around 10.30pm on Monday.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, a crossover vehicle crashed into an SUV, causing the SUV to rear-end a tractor trailer.

The driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Extensive cleaning required means northbound lanes will likely remain closed until 8 a.m.

The Aurora OPP detachment is investigating the crash. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
