A man was arrested after a woman said she had been raped in north-west London on Saturday evening.

The Metropolitan Police were called at 23:45 GMT to reports of an assault on Church Hill, near the main street near Harrow School in Harrow-on the Hill.

The Met said officers attended the scene and have since provided specialist support to the woman.

Police added that a man who was detained on Monday in connection with the incident remains in custody and investigations are continuing.

Det Sgt Phil Inman said: “We know this will cause a lot of concern and concern in the area, particularly as the attack took place close to the main street.”

To assist the investigation, St Mary’s Church has appealed for CCTV footage and dashcam footage taken between 22:00 and 00:00 GMT around St Mary’s Church, Churchfields Open Space and Grove Open Field.
