CHICAGO (Wales) — A Chicago police officer was shot Monday night on the city’s South Side, CPD said.

Police said the attack occurred in the East Chatham neighborhood near East 80th Street and South Ingleside Avenue.

The officer was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting.

Authorities did not immediately say whether anyone else was injured or if any suspects were taken into custody.

Police plan to hold a press conference Monday evening.
