PRESTON, CT (WFSB) – A man is dead in a single-vehicle crash in Preston.

State police identified the victim as 78-year-old Frederick Coonan of North Grosvenordale.

Troopers said they were dispatched to the crash in the area of ​​Route 164 and Deerbrook Road around 8:10 p.m. Sunday.

They said Coonan left the roadway in the southbound lane and went onto the shoulder. It traveled a short distance on the shoulder before crashing into a tree.

The vehicle rolled over due to the impact.

Coonan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. He was the only person in the vehicle.
