KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City police officer was injured in an accident accident He left the hospital on Monday morning last month.

The officer, a 10-year veteran of the agency, was on a motorcycle when another driver struck him near Gregory and Troost on Oct. 16. Police said the officer was leaving a traffic stop at the time of the crash.

The police officer was seriously injured and was taken to hospital after the incident.

Kansas City Police Capt. Stacey Graves joined her fellow traffic officers and other members of the department to escort the injured officer and his family to the Kansas City Downtown Airport.

The officer was flown to an out-of-state hospital to continue his rehabilitation.

The police department said the officer has a long road to recovery ahead of him, according to the department.

Investigators said the driver of the vehicle that struck the officer stopped immediately and cooperated with police during the ongoing investigation.
