McCaffery, of Victoria Road East in Hebburn, South Tyneside, repeatedly exposed himself to the woman and said “you know you want it”.

Judge Nathan Adams said the man also asked her to have sex with him and then groped him.

The court heard he sent her apology messages on Facebook the next day.

The judge said the woman had suffered a “terrible ordeal” due to McCaffery’s “very persistent” and “completely inappropriate” actions.

The court heard the defendant told probation officers he did not remember the attack but was “so ashamed” and it had “ruined his life”.

It was also heard that he had a history of depression and alcoholism.

As part of his sentence, McCaffrey will have to attend rehabilitation sessions related to alcohol, mental health and sexual offenses.
