EVESHAM TWP., NJ (WPVI) — A wildfire burning near a neighborhood in Burlington County’s Evesham Twp. was 90% contained as of Thursday.

The fire broke out in the Sycamore Boulevard area on Wednesday.

Chopper 6 was above the stage where flames could be seen burning in the bushes.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said at one point 15 homes were threatened by the fire. However, no damage occurred to any buildings.

Officials said fire crews will monitor the situation until serious rains occur.

“It makes it difficult because the materials in the forest, like swamps and other materials, have dried out. A lot of the lakes are drying out,” said Tom Gerber, wildfire officer for the New Jersey Division of Forest Fire. Service.

Gerber said, “We are in a historic rainfall period here. There has been no rainfall for more than a month. We have been living in drought conditions on and off for the last three years.”
