Now 21, he has around £30,000 worth of costumes, some created by himself, and performs mostly in Birmingham and other cities, although he still lives in Telford.

“There’s no place around here where I can really drift,” he said.

“I’m really proud of what I’ve managed to build for myself.

“I’m definitely less introverted than I used to be, but my family would probably describe me as a polite young man.”

He said his work had caused some friction with the family and he still felt uncomfortable talking about it with them.

“This is for me, and I’m not sure if I want them to see that side of me, the side that’s foreign to them.”
