SAN ANTONIO – While the week starts off hot and humid, our next cold front is on its way with some relief and the risk of storms in our area.

Monday will start very warm, humid and windy, with rain, fog or occasionally light rain starting again. This will be enough to create wet streets and some puddles in the morning. The afternoon sky turns partly sunny and temperatures climb into the upper 80s and even into the 90s in a few spots.

On Monday evening, we will see the cold front slowly move westward into the region after sunset and then move towards the San Antonio area between 10pm and 1am. While we may see a few showers or even an isolated storm develop before the front arrives, the main area of ​​rain with thunderstorms will develop as the front arrives.

There will be enough instability in the atmosphere for storms to move upwards, and along with the instability there will also be enough wind shear to strengthen several storms. A level 1 out of 5 “marginal” severe storm outlook overlaps with our region and may expand to include several more counties in our region in the next update. The main dangers will be strong winds and hail, as well as strong and severe storms.

In terms of precipitation, 0.50″ – 1.50″+ of precipitation is generally possible where the rain and squall line develops and moves eastward. Areas to the west of this region will unfortunately be much less visible.

Temperatures will drop nicely behind the front, but the air behind that cold front is cool Pacific air and not polar. This will bring temperatures closer to average in the mid-70s with a nice drop in humidity levels for a few days before the next chance of rain arrives with increased humidity later in the week.
