WESTMINSTER, California. – A kidnapping suspect was detained by leading authorities after a slow-paced chase from the Santa Fe Springs area to Westminster Saturday evening, according to authorities.

Officers were alerted to the alleged kidnapping just before 6pm by a friend of the victim, who notified police of his location via the “Find My iPhone” app. The victim told her friend that her ex-boyfriend showed up at her business with a gun and argued with her before forcing her into his car.

According to CHP’s statement, police tried to stop traffic on Highway 5 near the Bandini exit, but the suspect did not stop.

The pursuit lasted approximately two hours and ended on the 405 Freeway at Springdale Avenue in Westminster after the car stopped on the highway. The car’s two front tires burst due to spike strips placed on the 605 Freeway in the Cerritos area.

SkyFOX at the scene showed the suspected driver exiting the vehicle and surrendering. The woman was seen hugging the man before walking towards officers.

The suspect was taken into custody and faces charges of kidnapping and felony evading. His identity was not immediately released.

The woman was not injured.
