In short: Man shot dead by his brother-in-law

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by his brother-in-law on Sunday over a business dispute in northeast Delhi, police said. The victim was identified as Hemant. According to the police, they received a PCR call about a shooting incident around 6.20 pm and rushed to the spot at First Pusta, Sonia Vihar. A senior police officer said they found that Bantu’s sisters Rekha and Chandni, along with their husbands Ajay and Hemant, had come to visit him at Bhai Dooj. He said both Ajay and Hemant were in the business of making garlands. During the festivities, a heated argument broke out between Ajay and Hemant about their work. The officer said Ajay shot at Hemant and ran away.

Lawyers in Delhi are on strike today

A committee of Delhi bar associations decided to go on strike on Monday to protest the alleged attack on lawyers in a courtroom in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Lawyers and baton-wielding police personnel clashed in a Ghaziabad courtroom on October 29 after the judge called on the force to remove a group of protesting lawyers who were chanting slogans against him over a dispute. Campaign to save Yamuna

A year-long campaign to clean and rejuvenate the Yamuna river in Delhi-NCR and Braj district was launched by a social organization on Sunday. The ‘Bhikshatan Mahayajna’ campaign was launched by Yamuna Sansad founder Ravi Shankar Tiwari on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. The campaign was launched near Chhath ghat in ITO and was attended by community representatives and school children.
