WILLINGBORO, N.J. — A Pennsylvania man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting that left a mother and daughter dead in New Jersey.

Junior Edwards, 37, of Lansdowne, was charged in Philadelphia on Friday and had previously been taken into custody on unrelated charges.

He has since been charged with first-degree murder, home invasion, robbery with a firearm and other related crimes.

The incident began when police were called to a home in Willingboro, Burlington County, just after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning for a report of a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Catherine Nunez, 33, and her mother, Marisol Nunez, 54, in an upstairs bedroom.

Both had gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Edwards entered the home through a first-floor window. Police also seized a handgun outside the home.

Authorities later announced that Edwards and Catherine Nunez had an 8-year-old son. According to police, the child was home at the time of the attack but was not injured.

Officers did not say what may have triggered the home invasion and shooting.
