HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman injured in an attempted robbery is recovering in the hospital after Houston police say she was followed into her home by the suspect early Sunday morning.

The Houston Police Department said the attack happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Gulf Highway.

Lt. Riley said the woman had just arrived at the apartment complex after getting off work. Police say an unidentified suspect followed the woman into the complex’s parking lot.

The man then asked for money from the woman. At one point, the suspect fired a gun, striking the woman in the face, police said.

HPD said the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. It’s unclear if they will get anything from the victim.

The woman then ran back to her home and called police before she was taken to hospital, where she was described as stable.

There is no description of the suspect at this time.
