Amy Pugh from Penn Road, dudleyHe was sentenced on: Shrewsbury Crown Court after pleading guilty to one count of arson in connection with the incident.

Prosecutor Andrew Wilkins told how Pugh, 34, set fire to the garage of the home she shared with her late husband Kyle Pugh on Aston Drive in Newport.

The incident occurred on October 15, 2021. Mr. Pugh died in March 2022.

The court was told the couple had gone to a funeral on the day of the fire and had an argument after drinking at the funeral.

Mr Wilkins said the fight continued when they returned home.

When Mr. Pugh left home, his wife went to the garage where her husband ran his art business and set fire to some of his works.

The fire engulfed the building, destroying work equipment and prompting emergency services to be called to a ‘domestic incident and garage fire’ at around 8.57pm.

Mr Wilkins described how Pugh blamed her husband for the fire.

He added: “The conversations with officers were all lies.”

He told the court officers found an open iPad on Facebook messenger with images of Pugh’s fire sent to an account called “hubby”.
