A 35-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding car while bursting fireworks on the roadside in Pune district’s Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

The accident occurred on November 30 and was recorded on security cameras. The victim, identified as Soham Patel, was setting off firecrackers on the roadside on the eve of Diwali when a car hit him and ran away.

Soham, who was seriously injured due to the impact, lost his life.

Even though 48 hours have passed, the suspect driver has still not been caught. Ravet police have launched an investigation against the unidentified driver and are investigating the accident.

In another incident in Pune’s Sinhgad area, five children were injured when the lid of a drainage chamber burst when firecrackers were burst, police said.

Another firework-related death was reported in Nagpur, where a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by a youth.

The victim, identified as Amol Waghmare, got into an argument with a youth over fireworks on November 1. Police said that during the fight, the youth attacked Waghmare with a knife and killed him.
