A New York State Trooper is being treated for serious injuries at Albany Medical Center after being struck by a pickup truck near Exit 7 of the Northway in Colonie.

The incident occurred at around 12.30pm on Saturday, when police were assisting with a vehicle tow, and led to the closure of the two right-hand lanes on Northern Road. According to authorities, both the police officer and the tow truck driver were hit by a passing truck.

While the tow truck driver was slightly injured in the accident, the driver of the pickup truck was detained. New York State Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 518-457-6811 or via email (email protected).
