The highly anticipated 20th edition of the continental film awards ceremony. Africa The Motion Picture Academy Awards (AMAA) took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in a packed venue.

The board of directors of African Film Academy (AFA), organizers of AMAA, held its 2024 edition with pomp and joy at the Balmoral Convention Centre, GRA, Ikeja.

The five-hour film awards ceremony was produced by Kingsley James and Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe. Nigeria.

More than 700 guests from different parts of Africa gathered at the venue and received 26 awards, including from African film practitioners. actorscinematographers, producers, costumers, set designers and more.

Among the biggest winners of the unforgettable night were Nigerian Daniel Oriahi, who won four awards for his movie The Weekend; Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun won three; and Jahmil XT Qubeka from South Africa for the Queenstown Kings returned home with four teams.

Uganda’s ‘The Last Shoemaker’ won the Efere Ozako AMAA 2024 AWARD for Best Short Film.

Kenya’s CounterPunch’s Jubril Malafia wins AMAA 2024 Best Animated Feature, Mozambique wins Best Documentary for ‘The Night Still Smells of Gun Powder’, South Africa’s ‘The Queenstown Kings’ Ousmane Sembene wins AMAA 2024 Best in Afrikaans It won the Best Film Award.

Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe addresses guests

Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, CEO of AMAA, reiterated that African creatives must remain united while leveraging platforms such as: AMAA as a springboard to global fame.

He also promised that the family will carry on the legacies of the deceased. Peace Anyam-OsigweA name that influenced the African film industry and filmmakers before his death.
