An upset of Florida as a more than two-touchdown underdog would breathe new life into Billy Napier’s three-season run in Gainesville.

The annual rivalry game, this time shown nationally on ABC, returns to EverBank Stadium Half the seats are reserved for Bulldog fans and the other half are reserved for Gators fans.

“I would probably say it’s personal,” Georgia senior wide receiver Arian Smith said. “You already know it’s going to be a physical game, so when we come out of there and our fans are there cheering us on and you see the other side walk away, it feels like a good win.”

Georgia’s two secondary starters, safety Dan Jackson and nickel back Joenel Aguero, will sit out the first half with suspensions for second-half target calls at Texas.

This is expected to push Buford’s 5-star freshman safety KJ Bolden into the starting lineup.

“The most important thing for him is to realize you’ve been doing this for a while,” safety Malaki Starks said. “No matter how you look at it, a beginning is a beginning. He’s been playing really good ball this year and he needs to go out there and be himself. …He’s a great athlete. He wants this so bad. I have no doubt that he can go out there and do his job.

Georgia recovered from a disastrous first half and rallied to defeat Florida 34-20. The Bulldogs will complete their 2024 season road schedule at Ole Miss next Saturday. Start time is set for 3:30pm on ABC. They will be home from then on.

A 21-yard pass from Carson Beck to Lawson Luckie followed by a 7-yard dash by Nate Frazier set up Dominic Lovett’s touchdown as Georgia took the lead again. Georgia leads 27-20 with 4:01 left in the game.

Florida’s Ja’Kobi Jackson scored a rushing 15-yard field goal to tie the score at 20-20 with 7:29 left in the game.

Florida was set up for a field goal to take the lead when they had trouble with the snap and the ball rolled to the Florida 36 for a 31-yard loss before being recovered by Jalon Walker.

The Georgia drive extended to three plays when Carson Beck found Cash Jones for a 22-yard touchdown pass. Georgia was ahead 20-13 in the last minute of the third quarter.

With a solid 11-yard reception from Dillon Bell, Nate Fraizer scored the first touchdown of the night for the Bulldogs with 1st-and-goal. He was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after the game for taunting him with his signature “Gator chomp” sign. Georgia tied the score at 13-13 with 7:01 left in the third quarter.

Florida went 40 yards and caught a 53-yard Trey Smack field goal with 3 seconds left in the first half. Florida leads 13-6 at the half.

Georgia closed the Gators’ lead to 10-6 with a 53-yard Peyton Woodring field goal with 43 seconds left in the first half.

Florida freshman quarterback DJ Lagway was carted off the field following a second-quarter run. He was on the sidelines due to a possible knee injury.

Lagway is viewed as the future of the Gators. He was 2 of 6 for 47 yards and a touchdown on Saturday.

Walk-on Aidan Warner replaced Lagway. Starter Graham Mertz was lost for the season with a knee injury.

Florida went 37 yards and caught a 32-yard Trey Smack field goal after Carson Beck’s second interception.

TAte Ratledge is playing right guard for the injured Micah Morris.

Tate Ratledge was working at second-team right guard behind Micah Morris, who started the last four games, while Ratledge was sidelined with a high ankle sprain following TightRope surgery.

“He’s had a tough injury season,” coach Kirby Smart said on his radio show Thursday night. “He’s been able to recover from that ordeal. I’m amazed at how quickly he’s been able to come back from a very serious TightRope injury. He’s worked really hard; he’s been aggressive in his rehab. He’s come back quicker than we thought in terms of being in a position to contribute and play. We still need to see where he is and how he’s doing pre-game.” .”

Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo was just on the field chatting with Florida’s tight end coach and co-offensive coordinator. Russ CallawayBobo is the son of Neil Callaway, who first worked under Mark Richt on his coaching staff. Callaway is a graduate of Oconee County.

Georgia offensive guard Tate Ratledge (ankle) and defensive lineman Jordan Hall (legs) were upgraded to probable status, which was not listed in the final SEC availability report. So at least they are available to play.

During a game played in an NFL stadium, representatives from nine NFL teams are awarded certificates. These include the Panthers, Bears, Cowboys, Jaguars (easy trip), Rams, Dolphins, Patriots, Jets, and Commanders.

Georgia offensive guard Tate Ratledge is one of four game captains and looks set to return after missing four games with an ankle injury. The other captains are Carson Beck, Chad Chambliss and CJ Allen, who are returning to their hometown of Jacksonville.

“We’re hoping he can at least play a role,” coach Kirby Smart said of Ratledge on the SEC Network this morning.

In a video interview on SEC Network’s SEC Nation program on Saturday morning, Kirby Smart said Dan Jackson will not feature in the first half due to the targeting suspension.

“Dan is a critical piece guy,” Smart said. “It brings everyone together at the same point and communicates with everyone. He and Malachi have been best friends for three years. We will be without him for an hour and a half. The good news is that we’ve been playing with KJ Bolden all year, who is a young and really talented player. He rotated and played a lot of football. In our mind, he’s a starter, so we represent a plug-and-play guy who plays a lot of snaps.”

If you’re wondering, Matt Loeffler is not the referee today. Daniel Gautreaux. Loeffler, who presided over the Georgia-Texas team with the controversial reverse pass interference call, did not practice in any games last week, but the SEC did not say it was for any disciplinary reasons.

This section will be updated when the game launches.
