KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A driver suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing his car into a ditch on I-435 near Kansas Speedway.

Kansas Highway Patrol At approximately 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, emergency crews responded to I-435 and Riverview Ave. south of Kansas Speedway with reports of a single-vehicle crash. He states that he was called to his region.

When first responders arrived, they said they observed Jason N. Ream, 43, of Bonner Springs, driving his 2010 Hyundai passenger car southbound on the interstate, slowing down due to traffic ahead.

Investigators noted that while Ream was slowing down the vehicle, for an unknown reason he veered off the roadway to the right and crashed into the west side ditch.

Emergency crews said Ream was taken to the hospital Overland Park Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. No further information has been released.
