OC man hospitalized after allegedly fighting with neighbor over Trump flag

One Orange County The man was seriously injured and taken to hospital fight with neighbor On the Donald Trump flag.

“After he left, he didn’t care one bit about my well-being,” John Muder said. “In my opinion, he left me there to die.”

Muder spoke exclusively to FOX 11 via Zoom from his hospital room Saturday morning. Muder said he was hospitalized for three days due to a concussion.

“I had a brain hemorrhage,” Muder said. “I can’t believe the violence this man is implying. For what? A flag? Are you kidding me?”

According to Muder, a neighbor Ladera Farm the community recently had its Harris-Walz sign removed. Muder believes Harris supporters thought he had his signature.

“Trump thought it was me because I had a sign,” Muder said. “This is the furthest thing from the truth.”

Shortly after that, Muder said the Trump 2024 flag above his garage went missing.

A Trump flag hangs outside John Muder’s house.

“Whoever did this came to my house that day, put up a ladder, cut the flag and took it with him,” Muder said.

Later, on trash day, she said, her Harris-supporting neighbor checked the curbside trash can and saw a Trump flag stuffed inside.

“I was on the sidewalk,” Muder said. “I knew there was a camera thing going on, so I said, ‘Hey, can you stay off my property?’ “I left. He came to my house probably 10-15 minutes later, screaming and shouting.”

In surveillance video another neighbor shared with FOX 11, you can hear the confrontation and the two talking about the Trump flag. Muder claims he was attacked in his garage.

“He came in and then I realized he started attacking me,” Muder said. “He knocked me out. I have a massive brain injury in the back of my head. I think I got kicked in the face. There was mass blood. He left me there alone to survive.”

Muder was taken to the hospital and remained there for three days. Law enforcement also responded to the scene.

“He could have been dead right now and this man didn’t care,” said Muder’s wife, Lourdes Barrueto. “All because we have a Trump flag.”

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirmed with FOX 11 that they responded to a fight at a home in Ladera Ranch this week. One person was detained on charges of assault and battery.

The arrested man is believed to have been released from jail on bail. FOX 11 knocked on their door Saturday but there was no answer.

“I would tell him I felt sorry for him,” Muder said. “If you want to harm someone because of political views, you need serious help.”
