Murder suspect arrested after shooting at Midtown Reno bar in which 1 person died and 3 were injured

A suspect has been arrested for murder following a shooting in Midtown Reno that left one person dead and three others injured early Saturday morning.

Johnpaul Seger, 42, was arrested less than 12 hours later at a home in the 400 block of Cedar St. in Reno for allegedly opening fire at a Midtown bar just after midnight.

Police responded to Shea’s Tavern on Nov. 2 for a report of a shooting and found four adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the injured died at the scene, while the others were taken to a local hospital for treatment. An adult male remains in critical condition, while another man and woman are considered to be in stable condition.

Seger faces one count of open murder, three counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and a person prohibited from possessing a weapon following the shooting.

Although a motive has not been determined, police believe the fatal attack was an isolated incident and there is no apparent threat to the public.

Members of the HAZMAT team were outside the bar clearing the scene most of Saturday, clearing biohazard materials from the sidewalk.

Investigators still want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting. If you are in the area and saw the shooting, you are advised to contact the police or Secret Witness immediately.

According to Nevada Department of Corrections inmate searchPrior to this arrest, Seger had spent some time in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.
