Two people were killed Friday when the truck they were in crashed into another on Highway 831 south of Waskatenau.

RCMP said the truck was driving on the highway near the bridge that crosses the North Saskatchewan River when it hit a patch of ice and lost control.

It crashed into a truck and the 54-year-old man and the 51-year-old woman inside died.

RCMP did not say if the driver of the semi was injured.

No other details about the accident were released.

Waskatenau is approximately 80 kilometers northeast of Edmonton.
