Cybersecurity incident in San Joaquin County Superior Court blamed on some system outages

San Joaquin County Superior Court has been experiencing significant connectivity issues for the past three days and determined that those issues were caused by a cybersecurity incident, officials said this week.

He initially told the court on Wednesday that he was experiencing significant connectivity issues that were affecting his ability to conduct business.

Hearings scheduled to be held remotely on Wednesday have been rescheduled. Additionally, telephone and fax service, jury reporting instructions and information, e-filing, court website and online services, and credit card payment were all unavailable.

The court said Thursday that it is consulting with third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and remediate the cause of the cybersecurity incident.

Officials said the main focus is to repair the affected systems as quickly and safely as possible. Services including internet and phone lines are temporarily unavailable, although the court has some manual workarounds.

Jurors in groups 138 to 150 called for the week of October 28 were exempt due to connectivity issues.

The court does not yet have a timeline for full restoration.

“Our dedicated team of internal and third-party experts continues to work with extreme urgency to safely bring affected systems back online, and we will continue to share recovery updates as we become available,” court officials said in a statement. he said.
