ELKO COUNTY, Nev. (News 4 and Fox 11) — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Elko County on Halloween.

Deputies responded to a stabbing on Nighthawk Drive in Osino just before 8:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found 72-year-old Wayne Wiese with stab-like injuries.

Life-saving measures failed.

Deputies also found a man lying in the driveway of the home, identified as Lindsey Zayas. Authorities say it is unknown why he was lying in the driveway because he was apparently uninjured.

The initial investigation revealed that Zayas and Wiese got into an argument over personal items found in a trailer at the residence. During the argument, Wiese poured liquid on Zayas and threatened to set him on fire. Zayas then stabbed Wiese multiple times.

Zayas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and open murder.

The investigation continues.
