City of Calgary acquires site for crosswalk honoring veterans

A local organization wants to serve as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices Canadians made in the war.

Heroes Homes and the Forest Lawn Community Association are considering painting a crosswalk to honor veterans.

36 St. near Gaziler Village. It will be in SE.

Gar Gar, president of the community association, notes that other cities have issued year-round reminders of the importance of veterans.

“It means so much because in so many cases, veterans’ voices are not heard. And this is basically an opportunity to say that your voice is heard and your voice matters, and we hope that we look forward to that,” Gar Gar said.

Gar says they approached the city with this idea and received a positive response within a day or two.
