The fashion world suffered a great loss when iconic designer Rohit Bal passed away on November 1st at the age of 63. Sonam Kapoor shared her heartfelt message: “My dear friend, I heard that you passed away on the way to celebrate Diwali with your magnificent work that you generously lent me for the second time. I am so lucky to know you, to wear you, and to walk for you so many times. I hope you are at peace. Always your biggest fan.” He posted some precious photos with Bal honoring their shared moments in fashion.

Recently, Ananya Panday, who had the privilege of being Rohit Bal’s latest muse at Lakme Fashion Week 2024, also expressed her sadness. He posted a touching photo with Bal from the show and wrote “Gudda” accompanied by a red heart and dove emoji reflecting his love.

Kareena Kapoor paid tribute to the designer with a photo from his early days and added heart emojis to the post; Aditi Rao Hydari, on the other hand, shared the post, “Rest in Style, Rest in Beauty”, capturing Bal’s elegance and legacy.

Sidharth Malhotra also wrote on Instagram: “Deeply saddened by the loss. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

The announcement of Bal’s death was shared by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in a solemn Instagram post: “We mourn the demise of legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal’s work has redefined Indian fashion and inspired generations (sic). Rest in peace GUDDA (sic).”

Rohit Bal has reportedly been dealing with heart problems since last year. In November 2023, he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where he was under care for a pre-existing heart condition. His death marks the end of an era, but his contributions to fashion will forever remain timeless and influential.
