“Is it just me, or is Donald Trump this week laying the groundwork for participating in the election by complaining about fraud in Pennsylvania and suing Bucks County for alleged irregularities?” Columnist Jonathan Capehart asked Hewitt and Columnist Ruth Marcus.

Capeheart, who also hosts MSNBC, suggested that Trump believed he would only lose if the Left cheated, and Marcus seemed to agree.

“In Donald Trump’s mind, no election can be fair unless Donald Trump wins,” Marcus said. “I think we’ll see him both mobilizing his supporters to participate in elections outside of courtrooms and going into every possible courtroom in America to make every argument he can, no matter how compelling.”

Hewitt tried to intervene, but Capehart told him to let Marcus continue.

“I have to say, we’re newscasters, even though we’re on the opinion side,” Marcus said after finishing his speech. “This needs to be reported. Bucks County was overturned by the court and ordered to open extra days for violating the law and telling people to go home.

Hewitt reminded his colleagues that the Republican National Committee’s lawsuit on the issue was successful, similar to how the United States Supreme Court sided with Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA).

“Even though we have opinions, we are reporters, and if we bring up part of the story, we have to report the whole story,” he told Capehart and Marcus. “So yes, he is upset about Bucks County, but he was right and won in court. That’s the story.

Capehart was silent for a moment.

“I don’t like being lectured on reporting when Hugh has come on here so many times and said so many things that are not based on fact,” he said.

“I’m not coming back, Jonathan,” Hewitt replied as he took off his headset. “I’m done.”

“This is the most unfair election ad I have ever been a part of,” he continued. “You guys are working. It’s okay. I’m done.”
