Pokémon TCG Pocket: Currency and Microtransaction Guide

pokemon TCG Pocket changes the gameplay of Pokémon TCG with a unique approach to battling, collecting and revealing your cards. However, with this new format, Pokémon Company offers new methods of making money.

An experience designed for mobile devices, Pokémon TCG Pocket uses some familiar mobile gaming methods to track your progress behind timers and push you towards the in-game store. There are several different types of currencies as well as important items in the game that you need to know about if you want to complete the game’s Battles and Missions.

There are two main types of “currency” in Pokémon TCG Pocket, Poké Gold and Pack Stamina.

Pack Stamina is not a real currency but rather a timer that sets limits How many Pokémon card packs can you open in one day?. The Pack Durability timer refreshes every 12 hours, allowing you to open a pack without having to deal with it. You can speed up the timer by using Packed Hourglasses or Poké Gold.

Poké Gold is the game’s premium currency, which you can purchase for real money from the in-game store. Used to purchase sundries from the store or to restore Pack Durability without using Pack Hourglasses.

There are also a few item-specific currencies that you can obtain by playing the game, which will allow you to avoid using Poké Gold. Here are all these items, with their descriptions:

You can use up to 720 Poké Gold per day to speed up your pack openings.

You can play Pokémon TCG Pocket completely for free, as the core gameplay loop doesn’t require you to pay money or use microtransactions.

Even if you want to open more than two packs per day, you’ll still get plenty of Pack Hourglasses by completing Daily Challenges like opening packs, collecting certain cards, or battling. Microtransactions in TCG Pocket are additive only, so you can use them if you want to get more out of the game.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass.

While not directly tied to Poké Gold, the Pokémon TCG Pocket Premium Pass costs real money and gives you access to exclusive Premium Challenges and extras.

You can subscribe to a Premium Pass for $9.99 or your local currency equivalent. This will give you an extra Booster Pack every day and a list of updated Premium Missions that reward you with Premium Tickets. These Premium Tickets can be exchanged for special items such as Promotion cards and accessories.

You can try the Premium Pass free for two weeks during the launch window and cancel your subscription at any time before you’re charged for your first month.
