ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WFSB) – A state police officer was found guilty of illegally collecting workers’ compensation benefits.

Kevin Moore, 45, of Moosup, suffered a back injury while working as a state trooper in July 2019.

He began receiving workers’ compensation benefits or Temporary Total Disability, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

An investigation began in November 2019 to determine whether Moore had exceeded physical limitations set by his healthcare provider.

Surveillance was carried out for four months.

This oversight indicated that Moore had bypassed these limitations and also operated a screen printing business called Four82 Designs.

“Moore continued to run his business while on leave. While he was receiving workers’ compensation for his work as a State Trooper, he did not disclose his activities or report his earnings to Gallagher Bassett,” the State Attorney’s Office said.

It was determined that Moore received approximately $47,000.00 to which he was not entitled.

He agreed to pay full restitution until his sentencing on March 4, 2025.
