MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — A teacher at Martin County High School is in custody and facing drug-related charges.

Teacher Christopher Morin, 45, faces charges of unlawful use of a two-way communication device and possession with intent to supply illegal drugs.

“Last night around 8 p.m., during an undercover narcotics investigation, we encountered a suspect who offered to share his narcotics – which turned out to be methamphetamine and GHB – with one of our narcotics detectives,” said Sheriff William Snyder.

Morin was found Wednesday evening with 3.3 grams of methamphetamine, 24.7 grams of GHB and multiple syringes, according to a Martin County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit.

Morin was taken into custody near the Wawa store located at 983 Southeast Federal Hwy. in downtown Stuart, Snyder said.

Martin County High School principal Cristina Selvidge sent a message to parents and staff on Thursday informing them of the arrest.

“While the allegations against Mr. Morin are in no way connected to students or our campus, they are extremely serious and fundamentally contrary to the high standards of conduct and ethics that our school and the Martin County School District expect of all educators and staff,” Selvidge said.

The principal said that if Morin is released from prison, he will not have access to our campus or any school district property where he could encounter students.

Selvidge called the arrest “deeply disappointing” and “painful.”

“We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment and maintain zero tolerance for any behavior that fails to meet these expectations,” Selvidge said.

The principal concluded his message by telling parents that they could reach him if they had questions or concerns about Morin’s arrest.
