Anna Kendrick Donates Her Entire ‘Woman of the Day’ Salary to Charity

Anna Kendrick He may have made his directorial debut with her Woman of the Day but she made no profit from it after deciding to donate her entire salary to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) and the National Center for Victims of Violent Crime.

While visible on the screen addicted to crime AMNESTY Kendrick, who hosted a podcast to chat about the Netflix movie, reflected on the donation decision-making process.

“This has never been a money-making venture for me. “All the resources actually went into just making the movie,” Kendrick told host Ashley Flowers.

He said things took a turn before he took the film to the Toronto International Film Festival, where he realized money would be involved in conversations about the film: “I went from being like, ‘Let me know when there’s a movie,’ to being like, ‘Oh my God, I’m responsible for this,’ and then the movie was being made — we barely made it to the deadline to get into TIFF — and then it was like, ‘Oh, money’s going to change hands,’ and yeah I asked myself the question: ‘Are you feeling gross about this?’ So I did.”

“So I’m not making any money from the movie,” he continued. “The money goes or has gone to RAINN and the National Center for Victims of Violent Crime. “It’s still a complicated area, but it certainly felt like the least I could do.”

The film, which premiered on Netflix on October 18, tells the true story of Cheryl Bradshaw and her encounter with the 70s serial killer Rodney Alcala on the series. Flirting Game. Bradshaw chooses Alcala, who appears to be an ordinary contestant, but his appearance occurs during a murder spree. The film tells the story of Alcala’s murders in the 70s and his encounter with Bradshaw, played by Kendrick. Daniel Zovatto plays Alcala, who later became known as the “Dating Game Killer.”

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Screenwriter Ian McDonald noted that although Alcala has probably been compared to Ted Bundy, there is a significant difference between the two.

“People will compare him to Ted Bundy, but Ted Bundy was really good at pretending to be a good-natured, all-American guy, and Rodney Alcala didn’t even act like that. The most interesting thing about him is the way the people around him look the other way and how that allows him to get away with bad behavior for so long. Sometimes this is police or Flirting Game or just the court system in general,” he said. TR.

Kendrick, who was initially intent on just acting in the film, put himself forward as director, but only asked for the role if the producers felt it was the best decision. Kendrick even called Paul Feig for advice after getting the role. said TR at the film’s LA premiere. “I was truly surrounded by incredibly talented and supportive people, and they are the real reason why everything didn’t always fall apart,” she said.

McDonald also credits Kendrick for “saving the movie” and helping make it after deals for the film fell through: “He saw the movie exactly the way I saw it, and he had really smart, sharp notes. But more importantly, his notes made the script, no less, “He had new eyes and was a great collaborator who could see things that I had become blind to over the years.”

The film also stars Tony Hale, Nicolette Robinson, Pete Holmes, Autumn Best, Kathryn Gallagher and Kelley Jakle.
