The horrific incident in which a 17-year-old boy was beheaded with a sword during a fight over a piece of land spoiled the festive atmosphere in a village in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. The decades-old land dispute in Kabiruddinpur village took an ugly turn, costing the life of the young man. After the child’s murder, his mother was seen sitting with his severed head on her lap for hours.

Superintendent of Police Ajaypal Sharma said that the violence was a result of land dispute between two villagers Ramjeet Yadav and Lalta Yadav and legal action was taken.

“Tension increased when Lalta Yadav’s son Ramesh Yadav started clearing the disputed land this morning,” the police official added.

“During the encounter, Ramesh attacked Ramjeet Yadav’s son Anurag Yadav with a sword and beheaded him,” he added.

Sharma said that after the incident, Lalta Yadav was arrested and her son Ramesh was searched.

Akhilesh criticizes government over law and order issue in UP

Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav condemned the violence, questioning the law and order situation in the state. He claimed that there was no law and order in the state.

“There is a strange and contradictory relationship between today’s government and crime. On the one hand, the two go hand in hand, and on the other hand, the weaker and more ineffective the government becomes, the stronger and more active the criminals become. Today’s UP says we do not want the BJP,” he said in.

Tension continues in the village

After the gruesome murder, heavy police deployment was made in the village to prevent further flare-ups.
