Chelsea Freeman talks about her husband Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman‘s impressive performance MLB World Series and the behind-the-scenes support of his family.

“The craziest thing is he’s injured right now, so he’s playing with a sprained ankle, a broken finger and all that stuff. So our standards were very low,” he said.

“It’s like a miracle that he plays as well as he does. It’s really hard to even put into words the things he does,” she said of her husband, who hit a home run in every World Series game. Despite struggling with injuries this season, including an ankle injury in the playoffs.

“He’s such a perfectionist that he doesn’t think he’s performing as well as he wants to. It’s absolutely incredible that with everything he’s done, he’s finally got this grade,” she said.

Chelsea Freeman also touched on the Freeman family’s reaction to watching the Dodgers’ first baseman hit his historic, first-ever World Series walk-off grand slam in the first game of the series.

He said his oldest son, 8-year-old Charlie, who also plays baseball, watched his father’s heroic moment in the Dodgers’ kids’ room.

“The Dodgers have the craziest nursery… I mean, he was in the nursery with Brandon and Max,” she said, referring to her two 3-year-old sons she shares with Freddie. “He said all the kids were watching, huddled around the TV and thinking: ‘We’re about to lose, we’re really hoping not to lose, but we’re two out in the 10th inning and we’re down.'”

“Freddie hit that ball. And he said they all started going crazy, like they were jumping on him, jumping up and down, like it was the coolest moment ever.”

Despite overcoming injuries to achieve tremendous success on the field, the Freeman family faced new personal challenges at home this season. This summer, Chelsea shared that their son Max was diagnosed. Guillain-Barré syndrome.

He said the family has found an incredible support system within the Dodgers organization.

“The Dodgers have been so supportive of us, our family, and Max from the very beginning, I felt like every spouse in that organization reached out to me… I felt so connected.”

He continued, “We’re family and we know we can count on them for anything and they’ve got our back. So I think it’s so nice for Freddie to finally have his moment and give back to them and to the fans and the Dodgers in general because throughout this whole process “They were absolutely incredible to us.”

The Dodgers are currently one win away from winning the World Series and are hoping to knock off the New York Yankees in a series that features some of the sport’s biggest names competing on baseball’s biggest stage.
