BOAZ, Ala.(WAFF) – A man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a fatal stabbing in Boaz.

River Hammett, 25, of Dawson, was arrested following an assault, according to the Boaz Police Department. Brief foot pursuit after a victim is found dead In the parking lot of Western Sizzlin’.

The victim was identified as Terfils Juste Saint, 38, of Albertville.

Police said after a preliminary investigation, it was determined that the suspect and the victim did not know each other and that the incident was an isolated incident. Police said there was no other threat to the public.

Hammett is charged with Non-Family Knife Murder. He is being held without bail in the Marshall County Jail.
