NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) — A tractor-trailer struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 95 in Delaware Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. near the ramp from the I-95 northbound to Route 7 in Newport.

Northbound lanes were closed briefly during the investigation.

It was determined that the victim died at the scene.

It is unclear why this person was on the highway.
