Alison Botha shared her first photo after brain aneurysm

In 1994, Alison Botha was abducted, gang-raped and brutally assaulted by Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger in Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth.

During the attack, Du Toit and Kruger slit Botha’s throat and disembowelled him, leaving him to die on Schoenmakerskop, a remote beach outside Gqeberha.

Miraculously, Botha survived this horrific attack and has since become a beacon of hope and resilience after becoming one of the first rape victims in South Africa to publicly identify herself.

South Africans were shocked to learn that Botha had suffered another medical problem after suffering a brain aneurysm a few weeks ago.

Many people have rallied behind Botha to help with his medical expenses by donating money.

Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels also stepped in and donated R100,000 to the Alison Botha Foundation for her medical and recovery needs.

Botha recently shared a photo of himself in his hospital bed on Facebook and shared an update on his health with everyone who showed support.

“I am still in hospital and beginning a long rehabilitation journey. I have been assessed by doctors and physiotherapists and have been informed that thanks to the generosity of selfless people, I will soon be able to be transferred to a specialist rehabilitation centre. Thank you.” ” he said.

“I can use my right arm, but unfortunately I cannot sit, stand or walk independently.

“I’m still a little in shock. I’m still nervous and I’m still anxious about the journey ahead, but as many of you have reminded me, I am a warrior. I’ve been through worse and I’m very determined to make a full recovery.”

“I’m thinking of all of you and I ask that you continue to keep me in your thoughts.”
