It was already expected that the Golden State Warriors would enter their game against the New Orleans Pelicans shorthanded. Unfortunately, the team will be less staffed than they initially thought.

The Warriors started the day by listing Andrew Wiggins as questionable with a back injury. A few hours before tipoff, the team downgraded Wiggins’ rating from questionable to low because he was dealing with lower back pain.

The team will now be without Steph Curry, De’Anthony Melton or Andrew Wiggins as they face Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

Wiggins, who struggled for much of last season, has looked pretty solid through three games this season. So far, Wiggins is averaging 19.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 55/58/80 shooting. Wiggins played with 29 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal on 73% shooting in the last game against the LA Clippers.

With Wiggins out against the Pelicans, it’s time for Jonathan Kuminga to step up and prove why he’s worth a max contract. Kuminga and the Warriors were unable to agree on a contract before the start of the season because Kuminga wanted more money than the team was offering. Jonathan Kuminga wanted to bet on himself and tonight was his moment to cash in that bet.

Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans will face each other tonight at 22:00 (EST).
