Suspected roadside shooting closes 15 Freeway in San Bernardino County

Shooting on the 15 Freeway San Bernardino County It caused major traffic delays on Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The shooting, believed to stem from a road rage incident, was reported around 9:30 a.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway, north of the 138 Freeway, south of Oak Hill Road. According to the CHP, the driver of a 2000s Volvo XC70 SUV shot at a Ford F-150 pickup truck, striking the driver of that car.

The confrontation then led to the driver of a Ford pickup truck following the Volvo before the two cars crashed into each other, which then crashed into the driver of an innocent Toyota Tacoma. Due to the impact, the Toyota pickup truck rolled over.

The shooting suspect inside the Volvo SUV fled the scene and remains at large as of October 28.

The Ford pickup truck driver suffered a leg injury from the whole ordeal and is expected to survive. CHP said that the innocent person inside the overturned Toyota truck is expected to survive with minor injuries.

Information regarding the suspect or suspicious vehicle was not immediately released.

SkyFOX at the scene showed two trucks with significant front end damage and broken windows.

Traffic was diverted in Ranchero for several hours, while vehicles were seen coming to a complete halt for miles in the southbound lanes.

All southbound lanes of Highway 15 reopened just before 2 p.m.
