Disney Dreamlight Valley unveils massive expansion pass, game-changing new feature

I’m not a very casual gamer. Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon hold no appeal for me. I spend my time trying (and failing) to rack up kills in League of Legends’ Summoner’s Rift, or trying to find my way into whatever new dark fantasy RPG piques my interest – I’m too competitive for the comforting vibes. Later in 2022 I discovered this: Disney Dreamlight Valley via our resident expert Danielle Rose. I was going to bed a little earlier each night to play, lighting up my room with my emerald green cactus-themed fairy lights, but when life started getting in the way, I fell down. However, the brand new content roadmap has me eager to dive in again; I hope these lights are still working.

A lot has been revealed today Disney Dreamlight Valley but what stood out for me was a simple feature. game of lifeupcoming free update.

Themed around Sally from the ever-iconic Nightmare Before Christmas, players will be able to add a wide variety of patchwork-themed cosmetics to their wardrobe, including a gorgeous double bed I wish I had in real life.

But the real game changer is the ability to rotate objects and buildings on a 16-point axis instead of the simple square grid we’re used to. This allows you to place houses in secluded corners or build large plazas and position buildings around them. For me this is absolutely huge. It offers a whole new level of decorative freedom and allows you to truly create the Valley of your dreams.

This will also help you save some space, but thanks to the new Floating Islands, you might not even need that. A completely new system that adds four completely empty independent pieces of land to your valley, you can decorate and innovate as you wish. While Gameloft hasn’t confirmed exactly how large these are, executive producer Guillaume Sauveur notes that they should feel “comparably large in size to their Valley counterparts” and not feel “overwhelming” as a result.

Each Island is themed around one of the available biomes in the Rift and contains a variety of unique items worth collecting. I’m currently dreaming of an Island inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas or a Frozen-themed icy paradise and I’m getting goosebumps (don’t worry, the cold never bothered me anyway).

The free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley begins on Wednesday, December 4.

But actually there is more. Gameloft also announced The Storybook Vale, the second expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley. This gorgeous, high fantasy-inspired land is where all your fairytale dreams run free and features new characters like Merida from Brave, Flynn Rider from Tangled, and Hercules’ iconic villain Hades.

Storybook Vale’s narrative, to borrow the words of creative director Josh Labelle, “has more content in each one. “We’ve seen player feedback to get to the conclusion of the (A Rift in Time) story, and with this new format, you’ll get the same amount of content without waiting as long.”

The highlights of the expansion for me are the adorable origami-inspired Particles that function like the bugs in Animal Crossing. These ancient creatures have escaped the Lorekeeper’s Stories, a dusty old book filled with magic, and are now wandering through Storybook Vale. Armed with your new, shiny gold mesh, you’ll need to collect them all and work on their patterns, and I guess that’s easier said than done.

There are also all-new Trials, instances of dungeon-style puzzles that require you to use every tool in your arsenal. Then there are teasers for what’s coming Disney Dreamlight Valley charactersand it looks like we’re finally getting Aladdin and Jasmine, followed by potentially Alice in Wonderland themed chaos, followed by a trip to Skull Rock.
