An upstate New York school employee is accused of killing his sister and allegedly dumping her body in a river.

Jamie Busch, 53, a middle school paraprofessional at Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School in Honeoye Falls, was charged Friday with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence in the alleged killing of 62-year-old Penny Busch. .

Jamie Busch allegedly strangled his sister at her home during an argument between 4:50pm and 11:59pm on October 8th.

In the early morning hours of October 9, Jamie Busch’s sister allegedly threw three cellphones into the trash can of a nearby Dunkin’ store.

Police conducted a welfare check on Penny Busch on Oct. 11, prompting a manhunt after authorities thought something was off about her whereabouts. They used police dogs and drones to search his eight-acre property but were unsuccessful.

On Oct. 14, police divers found a body in the Genesee River, about an hour from Penny Busch’s home in Honeoye Falls.

Four days later, the body was confirmed to be Penny Busch, and investigators had probable cause to arrest Jamie Busch. Authorities accused Jamie Busch of trying to conceal evidence by placing his sister’s body in the river between October 8 and 12.

Jaime Busch was arraigned in Mendon City Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail.

Honeyoye Falls-Lima Central School District announced that Jamie Busch has been placed on leave.

“We are shocked and saddened by the reports,” Superintendent Gene Mancuso said in a statement. he said.

“Even though we have never encountered such a situation in our district, we have full faith that we will get through these difficult times by coming together as a society and supporting each other.”

Who was Penny Busch?

Penny Busch is survived by her two daughters, son-in-law and two grandchildren. According to his obituary, he planned to open a store with his daughters.

“Our mother instilled in us manners, respect, and committed moral values. We plan to strive to live up to our mother’s legacy, fulfill her dreams, and live as effortlessly kind and generous as she did,” their daughter said.

“Penny also had an infectious laugh and a fiercely loving heart. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity,” they added.

According to his obituary, the home at 90 Ontario Street where he died was his “dream home” that he bought last year.
