Search continues for missing swimmer at Whangārei Harbor “limited capacity”says the police.

The 83-year-old man went swimming in Whangārei Harbor every day but did not return without swimming on Sunday, October 20.

She was reported missing on Monday (October 21) and since then police, coastguard, Land Search and Rescue and Surf Life Saving New Zealand have been searching the area covering Whangārei Harbor and Bream Bay.

Eight days later, authorities said they were “re-evaluating the search to ensure all possible locations were covered.”

Police said in a statement to the press that they were in contact with the man’s family and were providing support.
