MILWAUKEE – Two five-year-old boys were in a car that crashed near 81st Street and Hampton Avenue on Friday, October 25th.

Only one person survived.

Teaira Harriell is experiencing a pain no parent wants to experience. Now he’s preparing to bury his 5-year-old son, Jaylen Sloan.

‘I just want him to know that I’m honored to be his mother,’ she said. ‘He was very happy. He was so stupid. And it was such a blessing that he pushed me even harder to be the best parent I could be.”

Jaylen and his twin brother Jaylon were involved in a crash on Friday.

Their 34-year-old father was behind the wheel when he crashed into two parked cars and crashed into a tree, according to the coroner’s office. Witnesses told authorities he had been drinking.

The slightly injured person was taken into custody after receiving treatment. FOX6 News is not identifying him because he has not been charged.

“I expect your family to love and protect other families, especially your children,” Harriell said. “He hasn’t really done anything like this in the past, so it’s very shocking (…) I just want answers as to why, what happened that night.”

In the video, people can be seen running to help. While Jaylen was crushed under the dashboard, his twin brother was comforted by those around him.

Their mother said they were in the front seat and were not subject to any checks, and Jaylen never regained consciousness.

“They got his heartbeat and pulse back, but the brain damage was terrible,” he recalled. “He doesn’t understand. He asks questions like where is his brother? When will he come home? For example, how do you tell a child that his brother, his twin, his best friend will not come home?”

Harriell said she is now focused on helping all of her children recover, especially Jaylon.

It’s unclear when charges will be filed.

Family and friends plan to honor Jaylen with a memorial service at the crash site on Tuesday, October 29.
